Good, tough links course. Rangers are psychotic lunatics. Chasing us for 2 holes, screaming across the fairway.
Course conditions have improved under new superintendent...many blind shots, including from the tee...markings were poor and virtually non existent providing little or no assistance when navigating the course and blind spots...the course itself was in very good shape...greens were lightning fast...the course has a decent clubhouse for lunch and 19th hole...for the price, this course is worth a try!
The course was laid out so that errant shoes were penalized and quality shots were rewarded. It offers a links style layout and when we found out it was built on a landfill, that all made sense. Good price for the experience. If you happen to be in that area, it's worth the play. It was a 2.5 hour drive and for the time and distance, I don't believe this will be getting a second play.
What a great course! Would take this course over Twisted Dune down the street any day. Each hole has is own unique personality, very memorable (TD's holes all looked the same...boring) HUGE elevation changes (pics don't do it justice) and when you're up top, the wind is like you're on the Scottish coast. Round time for 18 was 4:15. Ranger and starters were cordial and informative. Staff cleaned all our clubs after the round. Some blind shots, but that is was makes it fun and strategic. Great yardage markings on fairway posts and sprinkler heads. Greens were great and rolled true (some had some dry spots and repair, but didn't affect my putt lines). Tee boxes were in great shape. One of my favorite courses of all time! So different than anything else around and even more so for South Jersey. Great clubhouse. $45/RD
Pace of play was incredibly slow, and the marshal did nothing to help. 3 hours to play 9, then we just quit. We got ripped off.
